Targeting the RTK/Ras/PI3K signaling network, which is frequently mutated in many cancer types, has revolutionized cancer treatment, but challenges remain. In this presentation I will discuss how we reveal the structure and dynamics of RTK/Ras/PI3K signaling in various cellular processes that drive cancer and the implications of these findings for treatment.

Chuan-Hsiang Bear Huang received his M.D. from National Taiwan University and Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins University. His research team in the Department of Pathology at Johns Hopkins University seeks to apply basic understanding of cell biology to the treatment of cancer and other diseases. His work on the dynamics, structure, and function of the RTK/Ras/PI3K/ERK signaling network has appeared in journals including Science, Nature Cell Biology, Nature Communications, and Cell. Dr. Huang has received many awards, including a Silver Medal at the International Mathematical Olympiad, a Damon Runyon Fellowship, and an NCI K22 award.
